What do Snap-In Implant Dentures refer to?
Snap-In Implant Dentures are custom-designed dentures that can easily attach to dental implants installed by your dentist. By securing your dentures with dental implants, you can enjoy the following benefits:
- Improved dining experience: With anchored dentures, you can confidently savor your favorite dishes with increased strength and assurance.
- Non-removable: Unlike removable dentures, snap-in implant dentures stay fixed in your mouth.
- Increased confidence: Smile and laugh without worry, knowing that your dentures are secure.
- Enhanced comfort: Experience minimal movement, rubbing, and chafing with dentures that have reduced mobility.
- Better nutrition: Chew your food more effectively, leading to improved digestion and nutrient absorption.
- Minimal bone requirement: Ideal for patients with insufficient bone for traditional implants.
- Prevention of bone loss: Dental implants stimulate the jaw, promoting ongoing bone production and minimizing bone loss after tooth extraction.
- Reduced gagging: In some cases, a portion of the palate may be removed, reducing or eliminating the gagging sensation caused by dentures.
- Increased comfort: Dental implants help minimize or eliminate irritation caused by denture movement.
- Improved taste: Patients with implants may have a portion of their upper denture's palate removed, enhancing their ability to taste food.
Snap-In Implant Dentures vs. Traditional Dentures
Snap-In Implant Dentures offer a significant improvement over traditional dentures in terms of functionality, stability, and the ability to chew properly. While traditional dentures may appear aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective, they fall short in providing these essential aspects. On the other hand, non-implant dentures come with various drawbacks such as reduced chewing ability, speaking difficulties, fear of dentures slipping out causing embarrassment, pain and irritation, inadequate nutrition, bone loss, gagging, and decreased stability. Fortunately, Snap-In Implant Dentures effectively address all of these concerns, making them an excellent solution.
Am I a Candidate?
Most patients are eligible! A short consultation will be necessary to verify. In this appointment, we will take a 3D scan of your jawbones, the dentist will perform an oral examination, and they will carefully go through your medical history with you.
What is the number of implants I will require?
For upper implant dentures, a minimum of 4 implants is required. On the other hand, a lower implant denture can work with just 2 implants, but adding 3 or 4 implants typically improves retention and stability significantly.
Snap-In Implant Dentures Timeline
On average, the entire process usually lasts for approximately 6 months.
1
Procedure
Once all teeth have been extracted and any necessary oral surgeries have been completed, the implants are placed into the jawbone. Over time, the implants typically become indistinguishable. They will remain undisturbed in your jaw for at least 4 months as your bone integrates with them through osseointegration.
2
Post Op
We have arranged a short post-operative visit for the day after your procedure. In this appointment, we will evaluate your mouth, make sure you are satisfied with your dentures, and address any inquiries you may have.
3
Soft Liners & Soft Re-Fittings
Soft liners are utilized as a means of providing cushioning for your denture while your mouth is healing. They effectively bridge the gaps between your gums and dentures, offering both comfort and support. Moreover, they enhance the fit and overall sensation of wearing your dentures.
4
Uncovery
This procedure involves uncovering the implants and attaching small healing abutments to shape your gums and prepare you for snap-in dentures.
5
Implant Attachment for Dentures
We will replace your healing abutments with denture abutments and complete all the necessary steps to attach your dentures to implants. Usually, this procedure can be completed within a day, although occasionally it may take a little longer.
